UPDATE 11:30 a.m.: The latest from StormTeam11:
A tornado watch is in effect through 4 p.m. this afternoon for all the counties in our viewing area with the exception of Lee, Dickenson and Buchanan counties.
Our chance for severe weather will begin to decrease rapidly by early afternoon and the watch may actually be cancelled before 4 pm.
A Wind Advisory is in effect for our entire region through 7 pm this evening for winds from 20 to 35 mph with higher gusts.

UPDATE 10:01 a.m.: The Tornado Watch has been officially lifted but we are still expecting severe thunderstorms and damaging winds throughout the area today.

UPDATE 9:22 a.m.: A tornado watch has been issued for the following counties until 4 p.m.: Ashe, Avery, Watagua, Carter, Green, Hawkins, Johnson, Sullivan, Unicoi and Washington counties.

UPDATE 9:16 a.m.: Meteorologist Rob Williams says those in Abingdon should take cover from the severe storm now in their area.
He believes the storm is heading north of Bristol, so areas Bristol and south are safe at this time.
The storm is moving through Abingdon and making its way towards Smyth County. Williams says those around Abingdon should take shelter if possible.

The National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a tornado warning for Hawkins County and Sullivan County in Tennessee and for Scott County, Washington County and Russell County in Virginia.
The warning is in effect through 9:15 this morning.
