all this concern about this “model school” is great, but what about the little school in the South Central community that has been open since 1998 and still doesn’t have a baseball field??...looks like the field at Grand View is better than the JC Cards field. and another thing, when are these kids supposed to play on a playground anyway?  kids nowadays only get to go outside on days they don’t have PE and only for a few minutes then.

I agree with the need of the playground for the older grades. But it also needs to be addressed that the little kids playground shown in the news feed stays swamped with water. Kids must be careful not to fall into the puddles of standing water located around the base of the playground.  The playground stays wet even days after it has rained. When asked about it, I was told it was not a school problem. So who’s problem is it?

This story is very sad. It is sad because the hard working parents who have alread paid taxes to build and furnish this new school are now having to raise more revenue to build a playground for their children. I totally respect and appreciate these parents for going above and beyond their duties. These playgrounds could have been funded if Washington County Schools did not add two ATHLETIC DIRECTOR positions.  It has been said on numerous occasions that the A.D. positions are self-funding. This is difficult to believe because the two men who are probably recieving pay checks for the current work. If these postions are self funded where is the current money comming from for their salaries? Also where are the salaries comming from for the new gounds keepers salaries and supplies that are used to keep up those ball fields that were mentioed on this broadcast? I believe that these are legitimate questions. It appears that students are already suffering from the addition of the athletic directors and grounds crew positions.
