If there is a true "jack of all trades" in TV, then Tim Cable may be a perfect example. While still a senior at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tim nabbed a job as production assistant at WJHL-TV. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications, Tim went on to work in the production department of TV-11 and even worked his way up to director.

The call of being in front of the camera had always been there. Finally, in February 1989, Tim moved into news as a "one-man-band" reporter. A three year stint as assistant sports director and weekend sports anchor preceded his current position.

Since 1990, Tim has hosted "Cable Country," a folksy feature-type segment profiling unique people and places in and around Northeast Tennessee, Southwest Virginia, and western North Carolina. Tim describes the segment as "a poor man's Charles Kuralt." Tim also anchors "NewsChannel 11 at Five" weekdays at 5:00 p.m. and "Newschannel 11 at 5:30" weekdays at 5:30 p.m.

Tim is married to Christinia Hensley-Cable, who is also an employee of NewsChannel 11. He has three children. Their names are Trevor, Andrea and Adrianne. His hobbies are music, photography, and watching reruns of "The Andy Griffith Show." So, watch for "Cable Country", Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings at 5:55 p.m. As Tim likes to say, "You never know where the road may lead".
