Daniel Gilbert is a native of Prince William County, Virginia and joined the Herald Courier in December 2007 from the Washington, D.C. area, where he worked as a freelance writer for The Washington Post Company, Scripps Howard and Media General.

Daniel has written for the Christian Science Monitor, the Dallas Morning News and Reuters and now covers courts and special projects for the Herald Courier.

Gilbert formerly covered immigration for the Potomac News and Manassas Journal Messenger in Northern Virginia. He graduated from the University of Chicago with a B.A. in International Studies.
