Born in Monrovia, Liberia, and raised in the Middle East until 1977, Andre Teague knew at an early age that he wanted to work in some capacity as a photographer. A self-professed photography "nut," Teague sees his position as a Bristol Herald Courier staff photographer as the perfect position.

He graduated from McLean High School in Fairfax, Virginia in 1987 and then attended Virginia Intermont College in Bristol.

Teague began his photography career freelancing commercial and news work in the Washington, D.C., market in the early 1990s. He soon accepted a full-time position at a weekly newspaper chain in Reston, Virginia., and decided after a few years to return to the Bristol area.

Teague has earned several Virginia Press Association awards for his photography since joining the Herald Courier in 1996. In his spare time, he enjoys building 1/35 scale armor models and working at his computer.
