City Editor Susan Cameron has been with the Bristol Herald Courier for nearly 25 years. She started her career at the newspaper while in college, taking obituaries and handling the agriculture page. After graduating from Virginia Intermont College with a bachelor of art's degree in communications, she moved up to the position of staff writer, covering a number of beats for nearly a decade, starting with the crime beat and including both Bristol city governments, Sullivan County, Washington County, Virginia, local and state politics, education, health care and the environment.

She is a graduate of the Bristol Chamber of Commerce's 'Bristol Leadership Tomorrow' and has trained at the American Press Institute and through the Virginia Press Association, the Tennessee Press Association, the Southern Newspaper Publishers Association and Media General.


When not working, Cameron most enjoys her pets -- her Persian cat, Noelle, and a Jack Russell terrier named Lil Bit. Other hobbies include reading, writing, traveling, gardening, watching scary movies and spending time on South Holston Lake.

A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Cameron lives in Bristol, Virginia.
