The Tri-Cities Metro consists of eight counties (six in Tennessee and two in Virginia).

The Tennessee portion of the DMA ranks significantly higher in effective buying income than Virginia & Kentucky counties. Tennessee counties also outpaced the other counties in total retail sales in the last five years and are projected to grow another 15% in total retail sales over the next five years.
