PGA Tour Professionals Coming To Kingsport

PGA Tour professional, Cliff Kresge announces the first Kresge’s Krew Foundation Charity Pro-Am Golf Tournament at Ridgefields Country Club.
The Charity Pro-Am is scheduled for September 20-21, 2009. Sunday night will feature dinner and entertainment from country music star Vince Gill. The Pro-Am Golf Tournament will be held on Monday with 18 PGA Tour professionals in attendance. Early commitments to play include PGA professionals: Ernie Els, Rocco Mediate, Will McKenzie, Mark Wilson, Jason Gore, Paul Azinger, Chris Stroud, Jason Bohn and Rich Beem.
The Kresge’s Krew Foundation was recently formed by Cliff and Judy Kresge, residents of Kingsport, with the primary focus being to stimulate a greater awareness of Autism and its growing presence in America. One in every 150 children has been diagnosed with Autism in America and the Kresges’ hope is to assist with the financial needs of those children and their families. The Foundation will assist local, regional and national Autism Associations as well as individuals with special financial needs for their Autistic children. Cliff’s son, Mason, is on the Autism spectrum.
Cliff is a former All-American golfer at the University of Central Florida and a tour professional for more than 10 years. He is a three-time Nationwide Tour event winner and is an active member of the PGA Tour with career winnings topping $3.5 million.
The event will take place at Ridgefields Country Club which is celebrating its 60 year Diamond Anniversary. Legendary golf course designer Donald Ross designed the golf course at Ridgefields, which opened in June 1949.
The format of the tournament will be a modified select shot with one professional and four amateurs on each team. The field is limited to 18 professionals and 72 amateurs.
