Mears, who has had 13 appearances at Bristol, said that he looks forward to coming to the world’s fastest half-mile each year. “You can get in real trouble real fast,“ he said, and get caught up in things that aren’t necessarily your fault.
The economy has been a factor, he said, for everyone this year - from the fans to the teams - but he still looks forward to packed grandstands.
