The sun is out and qualifying has just begun for the open-wheel Whelen Mod race as well as the O’Reilly 200 - both of which will take place tonight.

The modified race, the UNOH 150, will start at 6:15 p.m. tonight, and these cars promise plenty of action. According to Bristol Motor Speedway, in a pre-season practice session at Bristol Motor Speedway, Modified ace Ted Christopher turned a lap of “The World’s Fastest Half-Mile” in 14.479 seconds, easily breaking Ryan Newman’s Cup Series track record.

The fans that defied the rain and came out for today’s race are sure to be happy they did, as the sun has dried up all the rain and the action is heating up at the world’s fastest half-mile.

In about an hour, the Craftsman Truck Series qualifiers will take to the track in preparation for tonight’s race at 8:30 p.m.
