Tennessee High’s girls tennis team fell to Siegel 4-2 Wednesday in the Class AAA state championship in Murfreesboro.
Megan Buckmaster and Sarah Anderson picked up wins in singles play for the Vikings (14-3), but Courtney Conley, Jessica Ratliff and Kimberly Smith all lost their individual matches.
Buckmaster defeated Siegel’s Hayley Edwards 6-4, 6-3, while Anderson won 6-3, 6-4 over Jessica Ginn.
“We had our chances,“ Tennessee High coach Jennie Gardner said. “It was great to be able to play against such a good school. I told our girls before we started today that we were probably the last team Siegel thought they would play in the championship. So it was good for us just to be here and we played hard. I wish we could have won. But we’re going to keep working and hopefully we can come back next year.“
