HONAKER, Va. – Devon Johnson ran for 125 yards on 14 carries as Richlands cruised to a 45-7 victory over Honaker on Friday night.

Johnson rushed for a score and also threw a TD pass to Bradley Strong.

Jonathan Bostic scored the lone run for the Tigers (0-2) in the fourth quarter.

The Blues (1-1) next face Powell Valley at Bullitt Park in Big Stone Gap.

In Haysi, the the Greenwave combo of Trey Meade and Gavin Meade combined for three touchdowns runs as Clintwood pushed its record to 2-0 on the year
with a win over Haysi.

Trey Meade scored on runs of 55 and 72 yards while Gavin Meade added a 60-yard run for a score.

John Pratt threw two touchdown strikes to Brent Clifton and ran for 114 yards as the Cavaliers (2-0, 0-0 Hogoheegee) beat the Titans.

Pratt and Clifton’s first hook up was for 18 yards in the first quarter. They were far from done. In the second, the tandem got together again, this time on a 45-yard catch and run for a score. Clifton finished the night with two catches for 63 yards. Holston’s Jeffrey Bramlett hit all five of his PAT attempts and rushed for 78 yards – including a 3-yard touchdown – and caught a 49-yard pass.

The Titans (0-2, 0-0 Cumberland) got on the board in the second quarter when Aaron McCoy found Kris Jordan on a 31-yard scoring pass.

In Norton, Martinez Miles ran for 102 yards and two scores and Aaron Looney scooped up a fumble and ran it in from 46 yards out as the Raiders beat the Bulldogs in Lonesome Pine District action.

Malik Miles got into the scoring act with an 18-yard touchdown run for the Raiders (2-0, 1-0).

Appalachia (1-1, 0-1) got its two scores off a Josh Allen run of 8 yards and when Tyler Hall connected with Cody Boyd for a 13-yard strike.  A.J Barker led the Bulldogs’ rushing attack with 62 yards.

Garth Nicely returned a fumble 30 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter, and Justin McGinnis returned an interception 52 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter. McGinnis also ran for a score. Brandon Osborne ran for two touchdowns.

Senior Hunter Bond had a big all-purpose night to lead Coeburn to the Cumberland District win.

Bond rushed for three yards, caught three passes for 43 yards and a touchdown, returned a punt 30 yards for a touchdown and returned an interception 33 yards for a touchdown. He also punted twice for a 39.5-yard average.

Adam Hill carried 17 times for 182 yards, including 75 on a fourth-quarter touchdown run. Darren Greer carried 16 times for 67 yards.

Coeburn is 1-1. Ervinton falls to 0-2.

Steven Escobar’s 10-yard touchdown run in the first quarter provided all the offense the Pioneers would need. Jared Brewer added two touchdown runs of his own – one from 8 yards out the other from 20 – and Cody Cain added a pair of scores on runs of 19 and 35.

The Pioneer defense also got into the act with a safety and Carey Yeary’s 43-yard interception return for a score.

Joseph Vaughn scored four touchdowns and Gate City improved to 2-0 with another impressive non-district win.
The Blue Devils led 28-7 at halftime and finished with 499 yards of total offense. Tazewell (1-1) was hurt by two turnovers and an inability to stop Gate City’s offense.

Chandler Jones had a big night for Floyd County, rushing for 160 yards and three touchdowns and returning a kickoff 65 yards for a fourth score.

Floyd (1-1) led 28-0 before before the Indians (0-2) got their first touchdown in the second quarter on a 33-yard pass from Zane Williams to Travis Foster. Williams later fired a 41-yard TD pass to Trey Huffard.
