Keep checking back as the Bristol Herald Courier brings you quarter-by-quarter scores from tonight’s Class 5A second-round playoff game between No. 1 Tennessee High and Boone.

FINAL: Daniel Boone 23, Tennessee High 14. The Trailblazers improve to 10-2 and advance to next week’s quarterfinals against either Sullivan South or Knox Catholic. Tennessee High ends the season with an 11-1 mark. Check Saturday’s edition of the Bristol Herald Courier for complete coverage of the game.

9:17 p.m.—Daniel Boone’s Blake Shropshire reaches the end zone from 1-yard out for his second TD of the contest and puts Boone up 23-14 with 1:08 remaining in the game. That is followed by a Boone interception that will seal the win. Meanwhile, up Interstate-81 in Southwest Virginia, Marion holds a commanding 38-6 edge of Grundy in the first round of the Region IV, Division 3 playoffs.

8:50 p.m. —The third quarter has come to a close at the Stone Castle: Daniel Boone 16, Tennessee High 14. This one is far from over though.

8:45 p.m. —An interception by Cody Snyder, his second of the game, gives THS excellent field position late in the third quarter. John Ellis Davis hauls in a 14-yard TD reception and Tennessee High cuts Boone’s lead to 16-14. Like most playoff games, turnovers are turning out to be huge in this contest.

8:30 p.m. —A fumble by THS leads to a Boone touchdown early in the third quarter. Boone running back Blake Shropshire drags five THS defenders into the end zone en route to a tough 5-yard scoring run. The PAT is missed (that could be huge later), but Boone helds a 16-7 lead.

8 p.m.—Tennessee High fullback Bradley Tallman scores on a 1-yard run with 1:06 left in the first half to pull the Vikings within 10-7. That’s where it stands at halftime. Tennessee High’s high-powered offense has managed just four first downs in the opening half, all but one during a 73-yard scoring drive that resulted in Tallman’s TD. A far cry from when the teams played three weeks ago and THS led 24-20 at the half en route to a 51-26 victory.

7:28 p.m.—Daniel Boone holds a 10-0 lead over Tennessee High after the first quarter.

7:18 p.m.—A touchdown by Dakota Whitson in the first quarter puts Daniel Boone ahead 10-0.

You could’nt ask for a better leader and coach than Coach Stubbs.  I know his preparation is second to none.  Congratulations THS on a great season!
