Sophomore guard Scotty Hopson scored 20
points in 18 minutes Wednesday night to lead No. 10 Tennessee to a
97-58 exhibition victory over Lincoln Memorial.
Tennessee senior forwards Tyler Smith and Wayne Chism added 11
points each in similarly reduced minutes, and Chism had eight
rebounds.
The Volunteers started sloppily while coach Bruce Pearl tinkered
with lineup combinations, and they were 1 of 10 from 3-point range
until freshman guard Skylar McBee made two to give them a 53-31
halftime lead. Tennessee improved from long range in the second
half and finished 9 of 26 for the game.
Junior forward D’Mario Curry had 24 points and eight rebounds
for Lincoln Memorial, an NCAA Division II program from Northeastern
Tennessee.
