Black Pearl? Saturday football success may influence basketball jerseys
The Tennessee football team’s success in their black jerseys Saturday may lead to the basketball team donning black sometime this season.
The success of the Tennessee football team Saturday night wearing black jerseys may lead to the basketball team donning black this year as well. According to a report on govolsxtra.com, coach Bruce Pearl says he is intrigued by the black uniforms. Pearl has turned down the option when presented with it in the past, holding on to the traditions of the program, such as the all-orange blazer made famous by coach Ray Mears, and having the team wear the candy-striped warmups of Volunteer teams past. And the football team’s effort and appearance Saturday night may have helped Pearl land a top recruit for his program. Georgia five-star basketball recruit Kevin Ware was at the football game Saturday night and later gave Pearl a verbal commitment. Ware said he thought the football team’s black jerseys were “cool,‘’ and that it was “very exciting” to see Tennessee in the alternate color on Halloween Night.

Black uniforms were great. Fans got what they have been talking about since Kiffin came in. I don’t know what this whole tradition talk is. The Vols wore black uniforms in like ‘52 or something. Let the old people know that they can shut up now.
After Sat. Game the water level in Tennessee River has fallen 2” even with all the rain fall we got. Now TVA will have to raise electric Rates back up.
The black jerseys looked really good but
they don’t make the game. The Vols played
much better Saturday.
GO VOLS !!!!!!
Anything to stir up the “Trailer Park Nation” I guess. I bet Coach Pearl now says he came up with the idea first.
