Writer Wants Christian Views Included Always

» 34 Comments | Post a Comment

In his opinion published Oct. 3, Robert Nelson Jr. wrote: “Ask yourself, do you want a Christian view to control the way that our laws are made?” His answer would be “No.” After all, who would want the Christian views against murder, stealing, injustice, and greed as part of our laws? Who would want the Christian views of loving neighbors, seeking peace, helping the poor and afflicted to be a part of any judicial system?
There are those who want not just a system where Christianity is removed from all aspects of the law, but from all aspects of our culture. If Christianity can be removed from our culture, what could be next? Principles of personal freedom, of the cherished rights we all enjoy, or your rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness in any way outside the control of the government? When we begin to exclude any views, then we begin to exclude all views, except the one in which those in control possess. To answer your question, Mr. Nelson, I want the Christian views to be included in any discussion of law, the same way they have been included in the very history of this great nation.

One thing is certain; One day you will learn the unequivocal truth as to whether God exists…

One day…

Now if you want to talk about a myth. Macro evolution is the rabbit out of the hat; without the hat or the magician. Now that is a myth.

I would be more than willing to debate evolution or morality; you pick!

You said “and halting medical research”
Now those are your words from your previous post.

You also wrote “ It’s not as evil as you think it is and yes we can even have morals without Jerry Falwell pushing them down our throats….“

Well, if we are evolved then there is no such thing as morality. There are only subjective ideas.

commonsense—what a misnomer—
You are farther in the mountains than I am these days.
I hope you get your head out of Fox News one day and actually get a balanced view of the world. It’s not as evil as you think it is and yes we can even have morals without Jerry Falwell pushing them down our throats….

kdr1—I didn’t say Bush created Global Warming anymore than I said God created the Earth. In fact what I said was he denied that there was anything at all to it.
And please actually read it yourself instead of getting your kindergardener to read it to you. I DIDN’T say the country stopped performing medical INSURANCE.. I said we halted medical research. Which isn’t exactly what I meant either - I’m was refering only to stem-cell research.
If I thought you were smart enough to understand I would try to explain evolution to you and why creationism is just another way to repackage the Christian Myth!

It appears you’ve been quite mis-guided for some time now- perhaps you should just stay up in the mountains…

I guess Bush created global waring?
Schools are teaching fantasy biology. Its call macro-evolution.
When Bush was in office the country stopped performing medical insurance? Can you prove any of these wild eyed claims you made?

How do you know something is right or wrong?

Since the Moral Majority reared its ugly head, we’ve had more Christianity in politics. Look where it’s got us… a war in Iraq, Global Warming that was ignored while the religious right was in the White House, and accredited schools teaching fantasy biology that includes a 6000 year old Earth and Creationism, and halting medical research.
Since the Christian fundy right has taken power, I gave up Christianity and found Paganism. I became Pagan because I could no longer identify myself with the Christian FOOLS in charge.
When I was growing up the Pentacostals were mostly the poor, uneducated, white mountain people. Many of them were snake handlers and all of them were speaking in tongues and having seizures (fake seizures)and rolling around on the floor while (I guess) Jesus rode them like a Vodoun Loa. Today, Pentacostals seem to be the sect in control of America.
Since the Democrats won the White House, the Pentacostal Republican party has done nothing but make a fool out of itself, trying to, As OldMan said, put out cues via FoxNews that you should be angry about something.
It’s time religion, all religions were given a boot out of Washington, and our public schools.

The greatest tradgedy of mankind is perhaps the hijacking of morality by religion. I don’t need to believe in an imaginary man (e.g. Santa Claus) to know right from wrong. If you do, you are the one with the problem not me. Keep your crazy in your own house.
