Writer Wants Boucher To Support Net Neutrality
The strength of the Internet is the freedom to access information – and we need to be sure it stays that way. In the past U.S. Rep. Boucher has been a leading voice for Net Neutrality, which is a key piece of Internet freedom. I would like to see Boucher take a strong public stance in support of current Net Neutrality legislation.
Net Neutrality is the principle that ensures all lawful Web sites and services are treated the same by Internet service providers. When I recently called his office in support of Net Neutrality and the Internet Freedom Preservation Act of 2009 (H.R. 3458), I was disappointed to hear that Rep. Boucher has not yet co-sponsored the bill.
As a citizen, Net Neutrality is important in staying informed and actively participating in our democracy. As an IT professional, it is important to my business. I don’t want anyone blocking lawful content or choosing what devices I can use to access the Internet.
The Internet Freedom Preservation Act of 2009 would ensure that Net Neutrality is the law. I urge Rep. Boucher to co-sponsor the act so lawful, innovative applications and new ideas can continue to flourish on the Internet.
