Writer cites Mumpower with flood responsibility

I would like to comment about the letter that stated we should be there for Mrs. Mumpower. The writer must not know her record. At the first Board of Supervisors meeting immediately following the Astor road flood, Mumpower did not make a motion to offer assistance to a woman that lost her home. Instead a blame game was played that it was owned by the Industrial Board. The Board of Supervisors was responsible for this flood.  They allow a company to move dirt without having an overflow pond. As of this date, not one board member has made a motion to help these people who had damage. Prior to this flood, Supervisors McCrady and Mumpower passed a resolution to give parents in the Taylor district $2000 to go to a baseball game. Why couldn’t Mumpower have taken some money from the half million dollar emergency fund to help these people in need? Common sense could have thought of that.
Mrs. Mumpower did not want the ethanol plant with 100+ jobs with an average salary of $42,000 that is now being reported in this paper as going to Bristol, Tenn.  She voted against the travel center for another 70-80 jobs. Yet she claims she wants jobs. Well it is obvious she is against jobs and has no real compassion for the flood victims. So wouldn’t you say to the voters it is time to put someone in office that really cares? This person is Vernon Smith
