Writer backs Mumpower, Jack McCrady

The League of Women Voters presented candidate forums throughout Washington County so voters could see and hear how, if elected, these individuals will represent the people in their districts and the county as a whole. Two challengers want you to believe their incumbent opponents are against bringing jobs to Washington County.
Dulcie Mumpower (Wilson district) and Jack McCrady (Taylor district) voted in opposition to a truck stop being placed at Exit 24, where the health and safety of Meadowview school children would have been at risk. Neither Mrs. Mumpower nor Mr. McCrady opposed bringing in a truck stop and would have voted “yes” had the owners chosen a different location.
Mr. McCrady stated in the Damascus forum that the suggestion to locate Love’s Travel Center at Exit 22, an industrial area already set up to handle large truck traffic, was rejected by the company.
McCrady and Mumpower are upholding the highest responsibility of their office, which is to serve and safeguard the well-being of citizens in Washington County. They will continue to carefully consider opportunities for economic growth which includes promoting tourism in our area, the only sector of the Virginia economy which has continued to grow during these difficult economic times. We need them on the Board of Supervisors.

Willinger supports
Terry Frye in Bristol

I am very proud to work with Terry Frye on several non-profit boards and as a fellow Lion. I believe that his service to our community has contributed to its growth and helps to maintain our regional heritage of volunteerism.
As a volunteer in one non-profit, I work with Terry and I know that he takes the time to do free legal and financial counseling with new business license applicants in his office. Certainly, his investment of time contributes to job creation and increased tax revenue.
Terry and I also serve on the board of another non-profit that was struggling to survive. As a direct result of Terry’s leadership and knowledge, this organization is now fiscally responsible, continues to serve the needs of our citizens and is providing employment and additional job opportunities.
Terry Frye sets an example for all of us to be involved and to serve our community.

We NEED new Supervisors on the Board or we will just get MORE OF THE SAME—which is unacceptable !
