Reader Rebuts Letter, Suggests Writer Make Changes
I am curious why Phillip K. Cooper’s letter to the editor did not carry with it his normal signature as “Reverend.” Having regularly read many of Rev. Cooper’s articles, placed in the Clinch Valley Times and the Lebanon News, no mention was made of his clerical title as he lambasted President Obama’s call for “change,” and lamented the “change” in the Cooper financial future. I find it incredulous that our new president could be single-handedly blamed for Cooper’s predicament.
My predicament has not changed. Grocery prices are up, but that is no change from my pre-Obama life. Grow a garden, buy a milk cow, raise a hog. Gas used to be less than a dollar a gallon, but under every pre-Obama administration the cost has continued to soar. Walk or purchase a horse.
I am not gullible, Rev. Cooper, far from it. My vote in last November’s election was for Obama. The “change” you call the “gullibility” of all Obama voters was long in coming, and will take time to come to fruition. Should you find yourself in lack before things grow better, you are welcome to sit at my table and share soup beans, corn bread, sun-ripened tomatoes, green onions, iced tea and a homemade cherry cobbler for dessert.
Meanwhile, I will exhort you, as you have so often done the citizens of Southwest Virginia. I Timothy 2:1- “I exhort therefore, that first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions and giving of thanks be made for all men; for kings and those in authority [Obama]. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; who will have all men to be saved, and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

Do you really want to get into the pro-life argument Koda. You do realize the Nazi’s were pro-choice? Regardless, you can scientifically show that at conception a baby is a living human being and deserves the rights of a human being.
Koda,
Your an idiot, did you even read that article. It doesnt take an idiot to realize that the economy is “going to make a comeback”, but that doesnt prove that Obamas policies are good. The market recovered after FDR’s policies too, even after those policies extended the depression by seven years. Actually Skousen even goes into what policies Obama is doing wrong and even sites a graph simular to the one I quoted: “As for the Obama administration, “their biggest mistake of course is threatening to raise taxes on wealthy Americans,” Skousen says. “The scariest chart I’ve ever seen” is one comparing the spending under Obama and Bush, Skousen says. “It makes George Bush look like a piker,” he says. Skousen sees several investment areas as attractive, infrastructure for example. “There are lots of companies that are involved with the rebuilding of our economy,” he says. “Certainly the commodities look very strong. They seem to be making a comeback.” And, if the government can get out of the way, “I even think the financial stocks have shown some life again,” Skousen says.“
Heres a link to the debate from before Link. As youll see, what happened is you were able to show one of my sources was questionable, and then when I showed you more evidence you resorted to name calling and left. I didnt even get to post all of the links between AQ and Iraq, and even then you were having to avoid my sources.
Chester
Well done. :D
Mr. Jones is a very confused person. Much like anyone who listens to traitors like Malkin, Beck, Goldburger etc. will end up being.
They simply cannot stand the fact that their dictator, Bush, nearly brought this great country to it’s knees and a black Socialist is fixing it.
Real Americans, from all walks of life, rallied last November and as a result we have a future again.
As far as Fascism is concerned, there is not more clear an example as we saw with Bush/Cheney confiscating guns in New Orleans, “pro-lifers” trying to dictate to Americans what can be done with their bodies, and the Bush/Ashcroft Drug War arrests that even surpassed that bozo Bill Clinton.
Of course, Prescott Bush bank rolling the Nazis while we were fighting them adds a little insight as to how Bush Jr. conducted himself.
We know Fascism when we see it and vermin like Beck, Malkin or wherever these guys get their lies from, just reinforce the image.
Chester,
I wouldnt know Glenn Becks arguments because I have only listened to him one or two times. I assure you that my argument is my own and that I probably know more about the subject than either Glenn Beck or you.
I believe I linked to several policies that are simular to Bush’s, not just one executive order. If you read my post again I think that you will see this, even though you cited the spending that I also mentioned in your post. He has also went against his policies on several occasions, take his reversal on NAFTA for example.
Actually I am insinuating that the Democratic majority contributed more when they were in power, though not that Bush was without fault. The Democratic Congress even held over the FY2009 spending bill and kept things at 2008 levels while Bush was in power so that they could stuff the 2009 bill with more spending for Obama to sign. You may not have heard others complain about the out of control spending during Bush’s term, but I assure you I am just as against it now as I was then (you are correct that I was for spending on the war however, hows that war going by the way?). The real question is why Liberal organization complained about out of control spending during the Bush administration, but are now strangely silent and even supportive now that Obama is in office. If you want to talk about hipocracy you might as well include your left friends as well.
Actually I called Obama a socialist, which is inseperable from the term fasist. Mussolini himself was the head editor of the socialist magazine Avanti! in Italy. When Mussolini was being executed his second in command said: “Long live Mussolini! Long live Socialism!“ You can try to peddle that Fascism is to the right, but I assure you that you wont be able to supply as much evidence as I do that its to the left.
Your last section is filled with a huge strawmen. I never said anything about who pays the most taxes, but if you look at the IRS numbers, they dont agree with you: Link I believe what I said was you cant count government handouts as tax cuts, something that even the Bristol Herald Courier admits was happening. And the CBO estimates arent worth anything by the way. The footnotes in the estimates specifically say that they did not adjust for changes in GDP. If you want to see what will really happen because of cap and trade, I suggest you look up a study done by Gabriel Calzada at the King Juan Carlos University in Madrid which shows what happened with Spains cap and trade program. Ill give you a hint, jobs were destroyed or left the country, tax revenue went down, people suffered.
I was trying to avoid arguing with intellectually challenged people today but if you insist…
“Bush, or to be more specific the democratic congress under Bush, increased spending like crazy, but that doesnt hold a candle to what Obamas doing. Heres a graph to drive home the point”
Too bad you have no business sense. Much like that skank Michelle Malkin. You have to spend money to make money. That’s what Obama is doing and it’s working.
Even a Right Wing clown, Mark Skousen, from NewsMax admits it…
LINK
It must have been painful for a BushBot like Skousan to have to admit that things are looking up,
though I agree with him that Obama made a mistake retaining Bernanke, a Bush appointee.
Lots of people are out of work because of the Bush policies and that won’t end tomorrow. But restoring a economy that has been destroyed by idiots is no easy task. Things are better because I own a business and I can see it looking up. It’s in the numbers. Business was terrible in ‘07 and far worse ‘08, but it’s getting better fast as consumer confidence is growing.

“Ever since I debated you on al-Quada in Iraq”
You have a link to this “debate”. As I remember it, I made you look like a tool and did so easily.
Get back to me when you’re smart enough to find your “graphs” in a location that’s not treasonous to it’s core.
DanielJones,
Glenn Beck could not have made your argument linking Obama and Roosevelt to the fascists in Germany and Italy. Oh wait, that is his argument. Now, have you any of your own?
You wrote: “Obama has done nothing to fix the damage done for the past eight years. He’s done the same things Bush did.“
You want to validate this by pointing to One executive order? Or are you condemning him for being unable to fix things in 6 months? Honestly, how can you objectively criticize success or failure of Obama’s policies without the benefit of any emperical evidence to support either? We don’t know what the results will be from Obama’s policies. What we do know is that he is doing pretty well in following what he told us he was going to do. We also know that he won by a electorial landslide as well as garnering a clear majority of the popular vote. Based on that alone, we know that the majority of this country wants these policies sir, and for you to sit there and proclaim them an abject failure with no evidence is nothing if not disingenious.
You wrote:“Bush, or to be more specific the democratic congress under Bush, increased spending like crazy.“
From that are we to assume that until the Democrats took control of the House in 2007 Bush never engaged in spending? Or perhaps you are insinuating that the razor thin Majority the Democrats held in the Senate beginning in 2006 was the cause of Bush’s spending? The reality is that none of you on the right ever complained about spending a trillion in Iraq but you absolutely hate the thought of spending a trillion for heatlh care for 47 million Americans. In other words you’ll gladly spend money to kill people but not spend money to cure people. Go figure.
Next is your ridiculous belief in Glenn Beck and Jonah Goldberg’s ideology that Facism is closely related to the liberal ideology in America. Perhaps you are simply unaware of the fact that fascism is essentially a radical nationalistic ideology based on a coporatist value system where the belief is that a class system is created by LIBERALS with a propensity for COMMUNISM. Fascists reject ideas of class conflict and internationalism, which are commonly held by Marxists and socialists. I could also point to you a couple of authors who are as respected if not more than Jonah Goldberg, who have done extensive research and conclude that Fascism is more intertwined with the radical right. Read the works of Roger Griffin and Stanley Payne. One thing you will see is that neither of those two are fueled by radical ideology as Jonah Goldberg is. So please, don’t try to peddle the subjective partisan ideology of Jonah Goldberg and Glenn Beck as the gospel. Just because they say it doesn’t make it so.
The reality is that if you look close enough you can find similiarities of Fascism on both the left and right. But to do as you, Beck, and Goldberg have done, in which you attribute it as the twin of Liberalism is ridiculous. Furthermore, since it is a commonly known fact that Fascists hate Marxist and Communists, it kind of creates somewhat of a conundrum for you guys to call Obama a Marxist and Fascist in the same breath. How do you reconcile that clear contradiction in your thinking?
Lastly, your wrote:“Tax cuts dont count when a)you count giving money to people who didnt pay taxes in the first place and b)when you increase taxes beyond the level of the cuts through back-door means (see cap and trade).“
This is one of the most ridiculous arguments of all time. You are simply regurgitating the talking points of your right wing masters by inisunating that only the wealthy pay taxes sir. It is true they pay most of the FEDERAL INCOME TAXES. What Hannity and his ilk never mention is that by the time you count in the payroll, state, and local taxes the tax burden lies with the working class. Always has, always will. Perhaps you should try telling a hard working factory worker in this area that he deserves no tax breaks because he really doesn’t pay taxes. Is that your argument…..really? Secondly, there you go again making assumptions about a policy which you have no evidence to support. According to a May 28 article on FactCheck.org, “Leading Republicans are claiming that President Obama’s proposal to curb greenhouse gas emissions (Capand Trade) would cost households as much as $3,100 per year. The Republican National Committee calls it a ‘massive national energy tax.‘ But the $3,100 figure is a misrepresentation of both Obama’s proposal and the study from which the number is derived.“ The CBO estimates that cost to be $175 per household by 2020. the trade off of course is expansion of green technology jobs, cleaner air and water, and ending our addiction to non-renewable resources. Facts are stubborn things huh, Daniel?
kona- You’re showing your Party ignorance again instead of reason…
Tell me, Chester- Have you read the Supreme Court’s decision document??
Dear Chester;
Again, you assumptions (which you always conveniently assiogn) are WRONG.
The empathy comment is from your Messiah- Obama- who said he wanted “a justice with empathy”.
Check the record, please.
Kona,
Are you really going to complain about a graph supplied by Malkin (you havent shown that the graph is incorrect), when you have so often cited hugely biased libtard trash like firedoglake on these forums before. The hipocracy is too much for me to handle. Ever since I debated you on al-Quada in Iraq, you have done nothing but ignore evidence and points and be extremely rude. When you are actually able to debate the points I made, get back to me.
