Reader Rebuts Letter, Suggests Writer Make Changes
I am curious why Phillip K. Cooper’s letter to the editor did not carry with it his normal signature as “Reverend.” Having regularly read many of Rev. Cooper’s articles, placed in the Clinch Valley Times and the Lebanon News, no mention was made of his clerical title as he lambasted President Obama’s call for “change,” and lamented the “change” in the Cooper financial future. I find it incredulous that our new president could be single-handedly blamed for Cooper’s predicament.
My predicament has not changed. Grocery prices are up, but that is no change from my pre-Obama life. Grow a garden, buy a milk cow, raise a hog. Gas used to be less than a dollar a gallon, but under every pre-Obama administration the cost has continued to soar. Walk or purchase a horse.
I am not gullible, Rev. Cooper, far from it. My vote in last November’s election was for Obama. The “change” you call the “gullibility” of all Obama voters was long in coming, and will take time to come to fruition. Should you find yourself in lack before things grow better, you are welcome to sit at my table and share soup beans, corn bread, sun-ripened tomatoes, green onions, iced tea and a homemade cherry cobbler for dessert.
Meanwhile, I will exhort you, as you have so often done the citizens of Southwest Virginia. I Timothy 2:1- “I exhort therefore, that first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions and giving of thanks be made for all men; for kings and those in authority [Obama]. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; who will have all men to be saved, and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

Russ; if you go to Boucher’s webpage and pull up his speech that he made on the floor you will see the $175 figure. I’m like you this is the only time that I’ve heard of a figure that low.
I don’t want them to care about me, matter fact I’d prefer they just left me alone. After all, the founding fathers set up a government to basically prevent anarchy. Now we have the federal government doing everything except tuking us in at night. I hope saying that doesn’t spark an idea in someone to lobby their representative for that purpose.
As long as we keep voting in Democrats and Republicans, I have no hope that anything will change.
Here’s a newsflash for you: neither party gives a rip about you and me. They’re in it to keep themselves in power and money.
If you ever want real hope and change, you’re going to have to start looking at 3rd part and independent candidates. You’re not going to get it with the Dems or the Reps.
By the way Chester, Obama himself said that energy prices would “skyrocket” under this cap and trade legislation. I don’t think anyone would classify your figure of 175 dollars as skyrocketing, least not the anointed one. The figures I’ve seen are closer to 1500 dollars per year.
I suspect, with the politicians propensity to under estimate or better stated, estimate in their favor, that the higher figure is more accurate, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it was higher than that.
Kona,
You really are the captain of ignoring points when your wrong. You just jump from point to point and ignore the facts. Do you think that me or anyone else is going to forget that you have yet to refute my ORIGINAL post.
You also reuse arguments. You tried to use the “I’ve been there you havent” argument before, but once again I will state (as I did the first time you tried this argument) that you and I have never met and that you have no idea where Ive been. Even if I hadnt, it makes you no more an expert on the subject of AQ-Bathe links than I.
As for those links, heres a list:
October 1998 (as reported in the January 10,1999, edition of Al-Majallah) an Iraqi intelligence official met with the Taliban leader Mullah Omar, “Osama bin Ladin [sic], and Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri, leader of Egypt’s Jihad movement” (and bin Laden’s number two officer). “On December 21, a high-ranking Iraqi diplomat visited Taleban [sic] leader Mullah Omar’s residence [then] eh met with bin Ladin and al-Zawahiri…[He] affirmed to his Afghan and Arab audience Iraq’s willingness to provide financial, logistic, political and informational support for the Taleban and the Afghan Arabs.“
Novermber 4, 1998, U.S. Attorney Mary Jo White indictied Osama bin Laden and several others in the African embassy bombings. That indictment contained this stunning phrase: “On particular projects, specifically including weapons development, al Qaeda would work cooperatively with the Government of Iraq.“
1998, the CIA reported from a “regular and reliable source” about meetings between al-Qaeda and Iraqi intelligence.
January 15, 1999, Cynthia McFadden of ABC News reported that bin Laden was “in secret meetings with Saddam Hussein’s top men.“
February 6, 1999, the Guardian reported, “The Western Nightmare: Saddam and Bin Laden versus the World.“
December 2000, two al-Qaeda operatives were sent to Iraq for training in chamical and biological weapons.
I have much much more, but I dont fill like filling up this page with information.
I would make the point of JFK’s father being pro-Nazi, but I already made this point to you before, yet you continue to ignore this point. I also would like to point out that you have yet to try and debate my information on fascists. You just do what you always do, ignore the opposition and throw names. Its really pathetic.
Isn’t it amusing how Chester and Kona only quote accurate sources and Daniel, of course, quotes rightwing propaganda. Chester could you and Kona let the rest of us know what news we need to watch, and books we need to read? I think that would be helpful in these discussions.
Chester, you said that the majority of this country wants Obama’s policies. I believe the voter turnout was only in the 50% range, so therefore we don’t know if a majority agrees with Obama or not.
I know this Bush was the best democratic president we’ve had until Obama came along. And you can praise this cap and trade legislation all you want, but this will in all likelyhood, kill our economy. Fifteen hundred pages brought to you by Waxman, Markey, and Boucher (that scumbag). How many of the congressman do you think even have a working knowledge of what’s in this bill? I suspect not many, if any. The unmitgated gall of man to think he can control the weather. Hey, maybe we can get the congress to have the sun come up in the west for few years, or shorten the winter.
“You do realize the Nazi’s were pro-choice?“
Nazis were pro-population control. They were also Republicans.
Here’s a Bush supporter who recently made the news…
Hal Turner
“Turner and Sean Hannity, go back a long way to the start of Hannity’s right wing radio show with New York City’s WABC in 1996, when he took over from the race-baiting Bob Grant, who had worn out his welcome. Grant once called Haitian refugees “subhuman infiltrators” and said America had “millions of subhumanoids savages…”
Hannity was a huge follower of Grant, writing in his book, “Let Freedom Ring: “Winning the War of Liberty Over Liberalism,” “I’d grown up listening to Bob Grant…one of the most entertaining hosts I’d ever heard.”
Turner had made a name for himself as a caller on Grant’s show, known as “Hal from North Bergen,” where he would call in saying outrageous racist statements and he continued in that role during Sean Hannity’s radio show.“
You’re wasting your words. This nation now sees things as they really are. That’s why your party was kicked out of every branch of govt in a 2008 landslide.
“Regardless, you can scientifically show that at conception a baby is a living human being and deserves the rights of a human being.“
In other words, a woman in danger for her life due to child birth doesn’t deserve the same rights?
Thanx for showing us who and what you really are.
Ah, yes. You tried to establish that Doug Feith was right and I proved you wrong.
Then you go into some nonsensical rant about Saddam and AlQaida being together. Perhaps if you had actually been to the middle east you might have known a little something about what you were saying. But you were never there and you had nothing but PNAC lies to offer.
Islamic extreamists sought to overthrow Saddam’s secular govt. They would never be in league with him.
You get trounced at debate then produce the link proving you were trounced.
Simply amazing.
:D
You’ll be eating crow when he raises taxes on EVERY ONE OF YOU…
