Glade Spring Resident Excited By Renewal
As a new resident of Glade Spring, Va., it has been my pleasure to have known and worked side by side with the many people who are now volunteering their spare time to improve our community. I have been involved in public service and volunteer work my entire life, but I must say this the first time in my experience that I have been part of such an energetic and positive movement to bring a small community back to its former glory, and make it an even better place to live than in days past. It is rare indeed to find such a dedicated, capable and willing group of people as we have working on behalf of our community.
However, with all the great improvements we have seen already, it would have been impossible to accomplish without the tireless assistance of our city council members and others who give of their time for little or no compensation, as well as our professional public servants. Among so many in our town, the fine folks from our Glade Spring Fire Department, Rescue Squad and Police Department have also pitched in to help us organize events and bring our community together. I commend our civic leaders and our dedicated professional public servants for their tireless support and encouragement, and especially those who have joined us “on the ground” organizing public events, swinging the hammers, wielding the shovels and manning the paintbrushes during our cleanup and refurbishment efforts.
Finally, and as we have said so many times in the past, I invite all those of good will who aren’t afraid of getting a little dirty, a bit sweaty, to join us in our efforts to make Glade Spring the next great community of Washington County. Glade Spring “is the place,” according to our town motto, and now is the time!
