Former opponent backs Shortt on Nov. 3

In 2003 I had the opportunity to seek election to the Board of Supervisors as the Republican Party nominee against Ronnie Shortt in Wise County’s District One. It was a good civics lesson for me in learning the challenges of election politics and just how much the people of this county care about our community.
One thing I learned in the aftermath of that effort was that my opponent, Ronnie Shortt, is a good man and has become an equally good county supervisor.
Ronnie is always active and accessible for people to bring their civic problems. He may not always have every solution or the answer you want to hear, but I do know he cares. He listens intently to voters and makes a difference in so many lives.
Therefore, as one of Ronnie Shortt’s previous Republican opponents, I want to strongly urge each and everyone who voted for me in 2003 to fully back Ronnie Shortt at the polls on Nov. 3.
