Former department head backs Mumpower in race

Until retiring last year, I was director of the Washington County, Va., Department of Social Services for 36 years. For several years, Mrs. Dulcie Mumpower was a member and chairwoman of the Washington County Board of Social Services. I believe author Mark Twain’s saying that “you don’t really know a person until you have worked or traveled with them.” I have worked closely with and traveled up and down the back roads and the main roads to Richmond securing resources, checking on people’s situations and performing county business with Mrs. Mumpower. From this up close and personal contact, I know Mrs. Dulcie Mumpower well. Her primary focus and commitment has always been on her family, church and giving back to people through her public service. Personally, I believe that she has served all three well.
Currently, Mrs. Mumpower is running for re-election to the Washington County Board of Supervisors from the Wilson District. If elected, she will continue to serve our county citizens well. I urge all citizens in Washington County to get involved in the business and good of your county, go vote.
