Favorite Campsites Could Be Off-Limits Over Holiday
To my fellow campers who used Observation Knob campground over Memorial weekend: Did you know our Sullivan County Commission has voted to make all the campsites, except the ones on the water, seasonal? Next year we will be lucky to even get a site, much less our favorites in the trees and on the hills. They won’t be available.
If we had been given notice that such a vote was being taken, we could have raised our objections and concerns. A public announcement should have been made a week before the vote so the people could have had a voice in this terrible decision. We finally get a close place to camp and they shut us out again.
Come on people, voice your opinion with a letter or a call to your county commissioner.

Thanks for your sympathy, but I think I’ll wait until Observation Knob Campground becomes Observation Knob Trailer Park and rent a perminate space there.
How sad that you lost “your” spot.
Might I suggest you BUY a lot somewhere so this won’t happen to you again. Or perhaps you might be happier in a private campground.
Excuse me for being stupid here, but I didn’t know that if you rented a campsite for a day, week, month or season that that granted you ownership of that site forever. I need to go back to Bear Tree and tell those people that are camping, where I did last year, to get out they have my spot.
Thanks for in info.
