Davis: Using Religion To Win An Election

» 1 Comment | Post a Comment

In my possession, I have a campaign letter, dated July 2, that was mailed to a dear friend. It is signed by David Davis. It makes several references to the Holy Bible and states: “My opponent [Phil Roe] does not have a defined position on abortion.”

I am so disappointed that David Davis would stoop to this low level of deceit. Dr. Phil Roe’s literature plainly states: “I have always been pro-life and always will be.” Roe has delievered almost 5,000 babies and says that “life is a precious miracle from God.” How much clearer can his position be? Davis has heard many of Roe’s speeches and knows full well that Roe is pro-life.

Davis must be very nervous about the upcoming election. I know that Roe is a humble and godly man and has a servant’s heart. Davis does not have the corner on righteousness. Self-righteousness is not becoming to the seated congressman.

Davis’ use of religion to get re-elected is not even thinly veiled; it is blatant and overt. Hiding behind a cloak of self-righteousness is repugnant to God and man, and I might add, a bit dangerous, according to the Scriptures.

When I showed the campaign letter signed by Davis to a friend in Rogersville, he summed it up like this, “Jesus Christ is my Saviour, not my campaign strategy.”

Actions speak louder than words and I encourage others in the district to vote Aug. 7. My vote for 1st District congressman will be cast for Phil Roe, because he walks the walk.

The depth of so-called faith is not a qualification for congressional office except in the various religious hierarchies, eg, Baptist, RC, Methodist, Presbyterian LDS and thousands more.
Honesty and competency are issues of qualification. Davis seems to be a no-low quality bag man who appreciates the ~$170K plus per year congressional salary and personal health care plan who has introduced NO legislation of value and has consistently voted against the interests of citizens…but not corporations and wealthy individuals. Follow the contributions to him.
