SCC should approve plant
I refer the opinion group of this newspaper to page D8 of the Feb. 2 issue [of the Bristol Herald Courier]. You will see a very coherent summary in support of the electric power station planned for Wise County.
The efforts of this newspaper to encourage opposition to the construction of this new power station carry the unintended effect of prolonging the generation of the pollution by the older power stations now in operation. I submit that the interests of the citizens of Virginia, as well as the rest of the world, are better served by the construction of cleaner power stations as rapidly as available resources will permit.
The problem with the opposition is that they offer only inadequate alternatives. The State Corporation Commission needs to get on with this with all possible dispatch.
