A fine young man

Thank you for a wonderful article about a fine young man on and off the court. I would love to thank Keith Jennings personally for making four young men very happy, probably around 15 years ago.

My sister and I took four elementary-age boys to the Charlotte Hornets and Golden State Warriors game in 1993. Mr. Jennings was injured at the time and could not play. He, however, traveled with the team, dressed out and sat at the end of the bench, even during warm-ups.

My sister had coached with a guy who had known Jennings in high school, and she yelled down at the bench during warm-ups that their mutual acquaintance had said "hello." Jennings motioned for my sister to come down to the floor with the four boys in tow. I don’t think that there could have been anybody in that arena more excited than those boys. Mr. Jennings posed for pictures with three of the boys before the game began. He even came out after the game to allow the fourth kid to have his picture taken as well.

I cannot say enough about his generosity and kindness to these young boys. They are all grown now, but they still talk about that one special night at the Coliseum in Charlotte, N.C., thanks to one "Mister" Keith Jennings.

I wish him the best in all of his endeavors.
