The Susan G. Komen Tri-Cities Race for the Cure will be held on October 25 in Memorial Park, Kingsport.
Last year more than 3,000 participants joined together to help the Tri-Cities Affiliate earn more than $400,000 for breast cancer research, education, early screening and detection programs.
There will be two events on Oct. 25, the Kids’ Dash at 2 p.m. and the 5K Walk/ Run at 3 p.m. Both events will be held in Memorial Park. For more information or to join the walk, you can contact Natalie Whitlock at .
The Tri-Cities Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure—along with those who generously support the organization with their talent, time and resources—is working to better the lives of those facing breast cancer in the community.
The organization joins more than 100,000 breast cancer survivors and activists around the globe as part of the world’s largest and most progressive grassroots network fighting breast cancer.
Through events like the Komen Tri-Cities Race for the Cure, the organization has invested $940,000 in local breast health and breast cancer awareness projects in NE TN, SW VA and NC. Up to 75 percent of net proceeds generated by the Komen Tri-Cities Affiliate stay in the 22 county region of NE TN, SW VA & Western NC, while the remaining income goes to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Grants Program supporting research, awards and educational and scientific programs around the world.
The Susan G. Komen Foundation will also host a special Survivor’s Reception on Oct. 17.
The special survivors’ reception will be held to celebrate life and recognize breast cancer survivors from around the area.
The event will be sponsored by HMG Seasons and Giuseppe’s and held on October 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Holston Medical Group Medical Plaza Atrium, 105 West Stone Drive in Kingsport.
