Organizers with the RAM clinic say they helped more the 600 people in the Unicoi County area over the weekend. RAM, which stands for Remote Area Medical, organizes its services in rural areas to help those people who otherwise could not afford to pay for proper medical treatment.
People started lining up for the free services on Saturday morning, and lines were still backed up on Sunday.
The people signing up to use the free service must meet certain criteria before they can get the healthcare. Doctors and Assistants from all over the country donate their time to give to the clinic.
This was the first year RAM has come to Unicoi County. Just last month RAM offered their services in Wise County Virginia.

This was the greatest event, ever! It was a long wait and a very early start, but the service and friendly folks made it unbelievably worth it. Every person that donated their services were so kind and efficient that the lines steadly moved forward in an orderly fashion.
I figured the glasses frames would be out of date or the frames nobody would really like, but I was so wrong! Everyone that came out of the building where the exams were held had a broad smile on their faces!
I knew a few people that had teeth pulled and they told us it was such a relief to have them gone! The Dentists were as gentle as possible. The relief from the pain was obvious. Even with gauze still in their mouths, everyone was smiling!
The Doctors were just as great as the Dentists! Every complaint was heard and treated to the best of their ability! I cannot believe how wonderful these people are and I can’t say “Thank You” enough!
I know a lot of people stood in long lines only to realize that Ram reached their limit, but don’t give up. Check their web page for future dates. It is sooo worth it!! There is no way my family could have afforded all the services we recieved!
So, if anyone reading donated their time for me, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!! We appreciate every thing you have done for us! Stan Brock Rocks!!
