The Northeast Tennessee Regional Health Office announces that due to the increasing supply of H1N1 vaccine all county health departments within the region will offer vaccine to the general public beginning Tuesday, December 1.  Vaccine will be administered by appointment only within the seven counties in the Northeast Region which include: Carter, Greene, Hancock, Hawkins, Johnson, Unicoi and Washington counties.  The Flu Mist ® or shot will be available at no charge through the health departments.

During October and November when the H1N1 vaccine supply was limited, priority was placed on administering the vaccine to those in high risk categories.

The health departments will continue to hold clinics on a weekly basis.  Additional information about upcoming clinics and vaccine available are on the Tennessee Department of Health website: http://health.state.tn.us/H1N1.htm.  Information about H1N1 or seasonal flu may be obtained from the Tennessee Flu Information Line at 1.877.252.3432, http://www.tn.gov/health or http://www.fly.gov.

For more information or to schedule an appointment, please call your county health department.

You do a wonderful job informing us about the availability of the H1N1 vaccine for those in NE TN. Could you please do the same for those of us in SW VA? I’ll be calling my local Health Dept tomorrow.
