STUDENT OF THE WEEK: Ryan Halsey

Ryan Halsey is this week’s student of the week. He’s a junior at Abingdon High School. The 16 year-old has always excelled in the classroom and he’s not one to shy aware from the harder classes.
“I like the challenge, I’m in a lot of hard classes, just try to work for the future,“ Halsey said.
Ryan wants to attend college, major in aerospace engineering and someday work for NASA. He currently takes flying lessons at the Virginia Highlands Airport in Abingdon.
“My neighbor was a pilot when I was real young and I got to fly with him and eventually when I was old enough to fly I just loved it,“ said Halsey.
Whether he’s in the air or on the ground studying for a test, Ryan says he’s always worked extremely hard at whatever he does.
“My parents, they always support me in what I do and they make sure that I do everything right and try my hardest,“ Halsey said.
