A man who pleaded guilty to two counts of vehicular homicide in a car crash that claimed the lives of two Elizabethton teens will have to wait to find out his punishment.
This morning, Judge Robert Cupp said he would announce Jack Schidlowski’s sentence tomorrow morning at 9 am.
This morning, the mothers of both victims and family members testified.
Back in April, Schidlowski pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide. That is when he told the court he had been drinking on the morning of the March 2008 crash.
Kimberly Harper and Taylor Sue Rogerson died. Investigators said Schidlowski hit their car head on as he drove down the wrong side of Highway 67 in Carter County.
He faces 8 to 12 years behind bars for the crime.
We will keep you connected with the outcome of this case tomorrow on 11 Connects.

Twelve years for taking the lives of two beautiful women who hadn’t even started to live is despicable. I understand the Judge could only go by what the “law” says he can impose but to spend a few years behind bars that we will pay for only to see him get out is a crime in itself. My heart goes out to the families of these young women. I can’t in my wildest dreams even imagine what they must feel like.
Drunk driving is a crime. The drunkdriver had previous arrest for drunkdriving. The families will never get over this. Their children are dead and he is alive. The 12 years is too little time to serve. He vehicle was a gun and he was a bullet that fired into these girl’s vehicle, in which he was on the wrong side of the freeway. My heart is sad for the victims families and close friends.
I am afraid we have no winners in this case. We will never know what careers these two young girls would have had during their lifetime. They could have been a doctor who would save lives or a daycare center worker who would love children. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims families and love ones as they are all heartbroken.
There is no punishment severe enough for a drunk driver!
MY prayers are for them all including the man charged. As stated…he will have to live with this tragedy for the rest of his life and hopefully THAT will make him a better person and someone who can change his life for the better because of it. It is a shame that two young people lost their lives because of stupidity and I hope the families of these two girls can forgive him for what he has taken from them all…for their (the families) peace of mind.
My heart goes to the family of the two teens and to the man who has to live with the fact that because he made a stupid mistake two young people are dead. I could not imagine having to live with that for the rest of my life that scene playing over and over in my head everyday. What a said situation for everyone involved.
I’m assuming that’s supposed to be a great thing that he will be locked up for a couple of years, get out of jail on probation and then do it again. I don’t think that a person with a DUI/DWI should ever be able to have their license back. It truly bothers me that they assume putting someone in jail for a couple of years will make the world a better place. It’s not going to bring back those 2 young girls, and their families will mourn for the rest of their lives all due to ignorance. I have no sympathy for him. I’m praying for the girls’ families.
