Two Gate City Businesses Damaged In Early Morning Blaze

Investigators said the severe weather may have sparked early morning fires at two area businesses.

Fire teams responded to Nancy’s Treasures and Making Waves Beauty Salon on Cane Street in Gate City, Virginia.

They got there around 4:30 and saw smoke billowing from the stores.

They said the fire then spread to the areas where the stores conducted business.

One of the store owners believe the storm took down a tree, and like dominoes that tree tore down power lines, in turn sparking the fires.

Gate City Fire Chief Jeff Brickey says he doesn’t know yet what the caused the blaze. He says the fire is still being investigated.

The fire chief also tells us that no one was in the building at the time of the fire and there were no injuries to firefighters.
