T.H.P.: Carter County Arrestee On Terrorist Watch List

A man arrested in a Tri-Cities traffic stop is on the F.B.I’s terror watch list, according to court documents filed by the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
27 year old Abdul H. Khan of Albuquerque, New Mexico, was pulled over on Highway 19E north of Elizabethton by Tennessee Highway Patrolman M.D. Musick.
According to a court affidavit filed by Musick, Khan was going 77 m.p.h in a 55 m.p.h. zone, was driving on a revoked license, and was in possession of a stolen credit card.
“I checked Mr. Khan’s driver’s license status through the NCIC computer and his privilege to drive was suspended in New Mexico on April 19,2008 and he was on the FBI’s terrorist watch list. He was therefore placed under arrest and transported to the Carter Co. jail”
According to jail records, five hours after Khan was arrested, he made bond from the Carter County Jail.
The T.H.P. referred our questions about this case to the F.B.I. An F.B.I. spokesman said the Bureau doesn’t comment on investigations.
Khan has a court date set for October 7th.

wonder what his bond amount was and what all charges he has over the stolen credit card. our justice system is not what it should be, slap on the wrist and a money thing. got to get that money first then maybe the real people will be able to step in and bring justice. he should have been denied bond until the FBI finished there investigations. who knows what they may find.good work to the TPI for the stop but hands down to Carter County Sherriffs department…

In what way did the US Constitution allow this man to go free after being caught with stolen credit cards? This was either an error made by hick law enforcement, or the info reported was inaccurate.

I agree. If this suspect is on the terror watch list, he can be detained for 48 hours according to the PATRIOT act. He should be detained so that federal marshalls can tansport him straight to Gitmo and let him stand trial for being here illegal and being on the terror list and then let the state take care of him with the driving charges. Alot of times, people slide through the cracks when it comes to federal issues because the “local yokals” dont have the experience or the knowledge to know how to keep these foreigners around so that they can be tried in a court of law and if found guilty, they should immediately be deported! This country has enough problems with immigration as it is. It should not be the responsibility of the taxpayers to keep these persons up while they are in the justice system.

When I was arrested for possession of Marijuana my bond was 10,000 and I did two years in prison.
Either this story is bogus, or something is very, very wrong with Carter County law enforcement.
I’ll opt for the latter.

Being on the terror watch list is hardly surprising, since estimates place it at roughly 1,000,000 members strong.
It is too large to be effective and needs to be seriously pared down.
If there’s 1,000,000 terrorists in our country, then we’ve already lost. lol

It seems like pretty serious charges to make bond in five hours. A stolen credit card? I would think the issuer of that card would have an interest in placing some charges of their own.
He hits on the terror “watch list” and makes bond? Was he questioned by the FBI?
Something does not add up here.
The Unicoi Sheriffs department arrested some terrorist suspects who were illegals from Israel they were turned over to FBI but later news reports is that they were back on their jobs at the moving company in Miami Fla in a week!!
