Bristol Virginia Police Department

Nov. 9

* A Virginia Avenue man watched some guy break into his fenced yard at 12:24 p.m., then leave four minutes later on a bicycle.
* In other bicycle news, a “dirty” man with “bushy hair, wearing all green” was seen on King Mill Pike, “pushing and carrying on a conversation with his bicycle.”
* Someone spotted a man “passed out” behind George & Sids at 4:30 p.m.
* A caller suggested someone check on the welfare of a man, sitting with a dog on Gate City Highway, with a sign declaring him “broke and ugly and needs help.”
* Someone set an Island Road lady’s trash can on fire. She called police after putting the fire out, and said she “does not know who would do such a thing.”

Bristol Tennessee Police Department

Nov. 6

* When a Carson Lane man came home for lunch, he found his neighbor “messing with his Halloween decorations.” He said the neighbor followed him inside, “shoved him” and left before police arrived. This was not officers’ first dealings with the neighborhood feud: They’d visited the home the night before when the decorations-messer-wither punched his neighbor in the face.

Nov. 7

* Police went to a Volunteer Parkway grocery store when security caught a clerk stealing cash from the register. Several days earlier, she took $285 from her till and passed it off to an “unknown male.”

Nov. 8

* A man walked into the police department to report that his Cobra radar detector had been stolen from his car. He knew who took it, and police arrested the suspect and returned the detector.
* When a woman caught her boyfriend cheating on her, she tried to “climb into the window” at which point the two-timer slammed the window onto her hand. She ended up at the hospital, where she told police “that she did not want to get him in trouble and was not going to tell his name or the address other than Anderson Street.”

Neighborhood Watch

* The Hurricane Neighborhood Watch will meet at 7 p.m. today at the Hurricane Baptist Church in Wise. Residents of Hurricane and the surrounding area of Wise are welcome to attend.
* The Melvin Hills and Oak Hill Estates Neighborhood Watch will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, at the Pleasant View United Methodist Church in Abingdon.
* The Highlander Park Neighborhood Watch will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, at Noonkester Field Park in Washington County.
