Teens Arrested In Church Burglaries Had Beer

Northeastern Tennessee authorities who arrested two teens in a number of church break-ins say the suspects had alcohol in their truck when arrested.

Jared Tyler Hicks of Rogersville and Keith Crownover of Surgoinsville were arrested after a Hawkins County Sheriff’s deputy saw them cruising slowly past a church. They were taken into custody early Thursday near Surgoinsville. The 18-year-olds are charged with 26 church burglaries in less than a week. They are also accused in a home burglary.

The Kingsport Times-News quoted a report by Sheriff’s Sgt. Tony Allen which stated both teens claimed beer found in their truck didn’t belong to them. The report said Hicks told the officer they found the beer along the road and were going to pour it out.

What I want to know out of this story is why the teens were arrested and charged with these church burglaries. Just driving past a church slowly doesn’t exactly scream thief..does it? Yeah..teens with beer..that’s news.

Why is this a news article?  What is the point of this?  Are you attempting to demonize beer because a couple of punk thugs had it while they committed burglaries?  What is wrong with you people?
