Its pathetic seeing grown women and men being so dramatic over little comments,not even pertaining to them or anything about them. So what if someones Anti-Obama,get over it,its a free country….or at least supposed to be. I don’t think that Mrs.Cook should be the only adult being held accountable for this underage party,Her husband was present at the time of the party,as well. Do we hear of him getting harrassed by the media? No,because he isn’t a kindergarten teacher. Yes,what Mrs.Cook is wrong,and she deserves to loose her job,and serve jail time. But so does her husband,rather or not he spoke to the police,hid from the police,or even was the one that opened the door and slammed it in the police officers face! According to others the parents told the police that they did not know the party was going on? How do you not know when their is a party going on in your house,unless you have a 40 floor house,and they were having the party at the 1st floor? Its that parents don’t care any more,their so careless,its pathetic to see what teens are becoming because of what their parents haven’t done in their lives! The kids that were caught drinking won’t get enough punishment to teach them not to do this anymore. I mean look at the Kristal Walsh case. Rebecca & Eric are only getting probation,community service,and house arrest?! THAT GIRL KILLED A WOMAN!! A MOTHER,A DAUGHTER,A FRIEND,A GRANDAUGHTER,A WIFE….and yet she is only getting minor punishment?! Its sad to see the punishment people get anymore for the biggest crimes ever committed!! So these kids that got caught drinking,and the ones taht didn’t flee the party,they will only get probably a certain amount of probation,and a certain amount of hours for community service!! Unless they enforce new law that has been issused in Wise Co.about paying a certain amount of money & if you have your licenses and get caugh underage drinking you have to pay a certain amount of money in order to get your licenses back at age 21! ...or so thats the law that i’ve heard that has been enforced in Wise.  The moral of this is…Mrs.Cook is not responsible enough to handle kindergarten children,& does not deserve to keep her job as a teacher for Washington County Schools.

Anybody, I don’t know what you are talking about saying that I have called Barak Obama the anti-christ. I have never ever said anything like that. I think you are confusing me with someone else. And I don’t appreciate you mix-up. You are completely out of line and need to research a little better before you make comments like that. I have never in any post I have ever placed made a comment that could even be construed that way.
Alea, I hope you realize I was talking about the person that posted that alcohol should be legal to everyone..even children. I was not referring to the teacher in the story. It was meant as sarcasm. I posted a juvenile response to a juvenile comment..jeez, lighten up.

To evaningstar, you’re comments are based on nothing but ignorant bias.  Name calling is common among elementary school students, perhaps you should go back there.
To candm08, do you have personal knowledge that this parent will not punish her teenage child?  In my experience with teachers I know on a personal level, they are normally strict disciplinarians at home.

Ease up on the teacher!! She can’t control every single aspect of what others choose to do. Someone could easily sneak alcohol into the homes of any of us posting here. For those of you who aren’t around today’s teenagers, well, maybe you should be for a while. You may be shocked by what some of them are like. Most are wonderful, but some are downright dangerous. They know full well that there are few, if any, consequencs for the things they do. Society has become way too forgiving, and is offering far too many second chances for them. They laugh at school rules, the law, and most authority. For those of you wanting to punish the teacher, what would you suggest happen when students bring alcohol to school? Who should be punished? The answer is the student, who got the alcohol there by sneaking it in in the first place. And if you don’t think teens take alcohol to school, then you must be living in La La Land. You need to wake up.

First of All;

Evaningstar; you’re the one who says that Obama’s the anti-Christ.  So, while I’m not an alcoholic or pothead; I would much rather be one than a crazy, racist, idiot like yourself.  You people are so bent on forcing your values down everyone else’s throat, why don’t you bother to get yourself some of that there ‘book learnin’ you may have heard about?  I know you have the time for it, what’s the matter too lazy?

Candm08; You would have been punished, only if your parents found out.  Yes it is important to teach safety at all ages.  You’re logic is circular.  You’re not saying that drinking is dangerous and therefore anyone who drinks should take precautions to have a ride, and they should also be careful for health reasons.  What you’re saying is that it is wrong because someone said it’s wrong, and therefore it should have consequences.

I suggest that it is not wrong.  What leads to binge drinking is that drinking is seen as a forbidden fruit.  It is for that reason that teenagers are so attracted to doing it.  If the novelty didn’t exist, then it would not be as much of a problem as it is now.

As far as marijuana goes; similar story.  It’s illegal because someone said it’s bad, but then every scientific study has shown that it is no worse for you than cigarettes.  And, incoincidentally, far safer than liquor.

As parents we are responsible for what takes place in our house. And as a professional we should be aware of all that happens. Teenagers will do anything but I know for sure that if this would have happened in my mother and fathers(who were professional educators) house I would have been punished. When you hold a professional position act like one and hold the members of your household to those same standards. Children must know their actions carry consequences either to them or those who are responsible for them.

The drinking age needs to be abolished once and for all!!!  This is such a waste of time.  What makes drinking so alluring is the fact that it’s illegal.  Get rid of the illegality, get rid of the whole poisonous fruit thing.  Yes; some kids will really like alcohol… but they’re going to find it anyway.
While you’re at it; legalize marijuana too.

Jennifer Cook is a great teacher and is not a threat to her students. Any employee or parent could tell you that. She was sick and in her bed asleep when all of this happend. The police officer came into the house without a search warrant and was not invited in. That is illegal! Two out of the 3 teenagers charged were not even drinking. The police did not breathalize anyone, so they dont have any proof of anything! They threatened to have a helicopter search for teens but they didn’t. The police are turning this into something more than it is. Jennifer Cook is innocent and should not lose her job. She has a teenager. Big deal. She’s a great teacher. People need to get their facts strait.

I’m with you dadw5boys. I need more info on this one. Where was the teacher when they got there? She could have been sleeping for all we know. Did she have teenage kids there that could have possibly started it all? Was she aware that they were drinking? If she was only charged with three counts those three could have snuck something in…when you have that many teenagers in your house at once that is very possible. Did someone set her up? As a [arent that has had those parties at my house, kids can sure get one over on you. Especially at that age, they aren’t stupid.

I find this very troubling if she were allowed back in the classroom. In Washington Co there are a number of people who are more capable and willing to teach our children. We need teachers in the classroom who care about our children and want to make a difference and we also need administation to take a stand and have to courage to do the right thing. Reguardless of the situation she should have never allowed it to happen. As an adult in a professional career you have to make the right choices or suffer the consequences.
