Gray, TN – The second annual Student Food Drive being conducted by area high schools comes to close Tuesday, November 10, 2009. Schools will deliver food to Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee in Gray starting at 2:30. A “wrap up” party will follow where awards will be given to the division winners collecting the most food in their school divisions. Students have been collecting food since September.

The Student Food Drive is sponsored by Tyson Foods, Electric 94.9, Little Caesars, the Johnson City Press, the Kingsport Times News, WJHL News Channel 11, Jim Edwards, Feeding America and Victory Packaging.

Last year’s Student Food Drive raised over 86,000 pounds of food to help people in need in the Northeast Tennessee region. The Student Food Drive is a national effort held to unite and empower area high school students in the commitment to feed the hungry and to promote volunteerism in their communities.
