“Staycations”

Local folks are staying close to home, instead of going away on vacation.
“Staycations” is a new word for most of us.
It means staying close to home for vacations instead of travelling. Some folks that I spoke with at the Jonesborough Days festival on Friday were just starting their Summer “Staycation”.
Most of those I talked with, are “Staycating” because of the tough economic times we all are going through right now. Going to festivals, fairs, and crafts shows makes good sense when you are trying to save money, or on a tight budget.
Vendors at Jonesborough Days have also noticed an increase in crowd size, and that is helping their bottom line as well.
So, until the economy gets better. “Staycations” may be the biggest thing going this Summer.
