Crews, including Sullivan County Emergency Management and the Tennessee Valley Authority, are currently conducting a search for a missing, presumed drowned, woman on South Holston Lake.

The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office reports that they responded to a call last night at 7 p.m. at 992 Lake View Dock Marina on Lake View Dock Road.

According to a press release from the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, Tom Bachman said his wife was missing.

The woman, Alice Savage Bachman, had apparently taken her son and his friend out on the lake in her boat. When they got back, the son and his firend went to get something to eat. She stayed at the dock to cover the boat.

That is the last known location of Bachman.

Her purse, bags and shoes were on the boat and the cover was half-way on when her husband reported her missing.

The owner of the marina told police that Bachman had fallen into the water while placing the cover on her boat sometime last week.

Kingsport Life Saving Crew responded to South Holston Lake and attempted to drag the lake at the boat slips.

Efforts have so far proven unsuccessful. KLSC also contacted Knoxville to obtain a better submergible camera to aid in their search.

We will have more information as it becomes available.

This is either going to be a tragic story or terrible story.
