Rescue at Twisting Falls in Carter County
A woman is expected to be okay after having to be rescued at Twisting Falls in Carter County.
According to Carter County dispatchers, a woman in her late teens injured her leg at the falls as she tried to step from one rock to another. They say her injuries are not life threatening and that emergency crews transported her to Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
Dispatchers tell 11 Connects that the call for help was placed from Dark Ridge Road in Butler, Tenn. at about 6:45 p.m. Monday night. They say that the rescue took about six hours.
The Carter County Rescue Squad, a second rescue team and the Elk Mills Fire Department all responded.
Emergency crews say they can’t release the woman’s name at this point in time.

The Carter County Rescue Service spent much of Monday night trying to rescue a person at Twisted Falls.
Rescuers say a woman in her late teens broke her leg at the falls. Dispatchers tell 11 Connects the call for help was placed from Dark Ridge Road in Butler about 6:45 p.m. The Carter County Rescue Squad and Elk Mills Fire Department all turned out.
