Apparently not agreeing with you makes me “grumpy” ....and I should move to another country…..ahahahaaaaa
“You say I’m getting taxes mixed up with insurance, well whats the difference? “
You can’t understand the difference between VOLUNTARY ( insurance….I don’t have to buy it ) and FORCED ( taxes…at the point of a gun or jail )
If you can’t grasp that simple concept, I’m at a loss to help you.
(TnAndy)Taxes are going to pay for services to people in the United States including police, fire and ambulance service. Not to mention medicare and soon insurance for every one that wants it, you do have to pay taxes and if you consider that being like the mafia and that the US is robbing from you , then the best thing you can do is pack your bags and go to another country that won’t rob you. good luck finding that place..
But maybe just maybe, one day you might need an ambulance or police man to help you if someone really did rob you, then you wouldn’t be able to say the US is robbing you because you used the service you are paying for.
I can see you are just a grumpy man that wants to argue about what everyone does and that no one is right but you (again all about you) I don’t need this insurance right now, its not about me but everyone that does need it. I know it might break your heart but this world don’t revolve around you.
You say I’m getting taxes mixed up with insurance, well whats the difference? everyone puts their money in insurance and if you need it, it’s there for you. ok then everyone pay in their taxes and the services should be there if you need it. What if you didn’t pay taxes, what would you do for a fire dept, ambulance or policeman if you needed one. If everything was all privately owned, could you afford to pay for emergency services if it would take all night long to put out a house or business fire, including policeman to block the road, fire dept to put out the fire and ambulance if someone got hurt and then you would had to pay for the road to get to your business or house. Don’t get me wrong, I know government wastes way too much money, but they are going to waste it anyway. If the people in the US don’t get it then it will just be sent to a communist country or to a building in Iraq that we have blown up before.
Not everyone who is without health insurance supports this healthcare deal the way it stands right now. I work but do not have health insurance (it is not offered by my employer - if I could afford it I could get an insurance policy elsewhere, of course) but I certainly do not expect the government or anyone else to fix this for me. I am busting my butt to take care of my situation myself. Do not automatically assume that those of us who feel this way do not have any medical issues, which can be a scary situation sometimes but I still do not want someone else taking care of it for me. I will improve my own situation and if anything happens before then I will simply take what happens, take responsibility and do what I can to handle it in an appropriate manner and make the best arrangements that I could.
Whitehorse:
You’re confusing taxes with insurance.
Insurance is a voluntary contract I would enter with a company along with a pool of other folks seeking the same protection the policy would offer should I step in a hole sometime….insurance companies study the odds of my stepping in a hole ( or house burning or car wreck or whatever ) and know that if they get enough people covered, that a certain amount has to be paid out for claims, and along with their overhead and profit, they base the insurance premium on those factors.
BUT it is my choice whether I purchase ANY insurance of any kind…a VOLUNTARY CONTRACT. The key word is VOLUNTARY.
With a govt program, I am FORCED to participate whether I want to or not..whether I agree with the program or not….the key word is FORCE….at the point of gun or jail if I decide this is not for me.
What is the difference in protection by govt and protection by the mafia ?
None.
The govt has no right, NOR does it have the Constitutional authority to FORCE me to provide for myself, or for anyone else….not that that slows them up in the least.
They do it for CONTROL….to buy votes and win favor with people who would otherwise have to provide for themselves….all governments, all parties.
The whitehorse1011 message under this one is for (TnAndy)
I’m happy for you that you are one of the people that don’t need any help but there are plenty people that does need help and there are no shame in that. I pay for my own medicine and admit I am drawing unemployment but supposed to be called back at any time. There are people that can’t find a job right now, just because there is a job opening at a place don’t mean you can get a job, there will be probably hundreds of people there with you wanting the same job. I haven’t been unemployed too long and you are talking about theft, where do you think Medicare gets it money and I have paid plenty of taxes for that. If you want to look as paying for someone else is theft, then what if you use your insurance and it pays out a hundred thousand dollars, you didn’t pay the insurance company that much, did you? Then you must be taking from the other people that pays for insurance that don’t use it so much, i guess that would be theft. And if you are going to write back and say you don’t use your insurance then again good for you.
But seriously where i will be going back to work soon has great insurance and I shouldn’t be needing this insurance everyone is talking about but I know that there are people that does need it and I hope they get it, so there you go…....
You might not agree with me but God Bless You and good luck in your retirement….......
Ah, whitehorse….you assume to know so much.
I am retired now ( and not on medicare ), I was self employed, so if I “lost” my job, it was my job to go find it. Never collected unemployment ( but paid for a lot of it thru payroll taxes on my employees ), paid for my own healthcare.
Unlike you, I didn’t go around sobbing about how tough life is, but instead, provided for my family.
What you seem to want is for govt to TAKE from me to provide for others. If I choose to give, that if fine….it’s the taking by force I object to. But apparently, since you would be on the receiving end, that is OK.
Isn’t there one of the 10 commandments about theft ?
(TnAndy) So I guess if you lose your job, then you would not take an unemployment check would you? I mean why should the state send you a check if someone else is going to have to pay for it. What are you going to do if you lose your job and your insurance? What if you become disabled and couldn’t work? What you call a free circus helped out a lot of people and maybe reading glasses wouldn’t help them, maybe they needed glasses to help them see far away. You just keep thinking about yourself and don’t worry about someone in need, don’t worry about someone that has to worry about if they are going to be able to pay for medicine or forget medicine so that they can have a place to live or have food to eat. So we might have to pay a little if we do and it will help someone that needs it then I hate that for you because you have no love for another human in need.
You may think you are above these people that goes to a free circus(as you call it) but what goes around comes around and someday you might need to go to a free circus yourself.
We would be ok if it wasn’t that most of neighbors are like you and worry about if you are going to have to help someone else along life’s road…..... I’m glad Jesus didn’t care to help me.
“Thank goodness someone in DC is trying to do something to help the common person who is in a world of hurt at present. “
The people in DC don’t give flying fig about the “common person”....never have, never will, and doesn’t matter what party is in power.
ALL they are interested in is retaining their power by buying your vote.
The best thing for the common person would be for govt to reduce it’s size to about nothing, and allow freedom….the kind where opportunity abounds, you are responsible for yourself and your success or failure in life, and your neighbors/church help you if you step in a hole along the way.
So, who, whitehorse, should pay for your healthcare ?
If you went door to door in your neighborhood with a gun and forced each resident to fork over some money to pay for “your needs”, that would be a crime…...but if you vote for a politician that does EXACTLY the same thing via “law”, that’s fine, huh ?
By the way, when a free circus comes to town, like in Wise last week, everybody of any means will attend. Don’t use that as proof of anything.
For example, I saw they made hundreds of pairs of glasses on site that weekend…..are you telling me most of those people couldn’t go buy a pair of 10 buck reading glasses from Walmart like I do ? ( why bother when they are “free” ? )
