Quilt Trail Quilt won by Gate City woman
Thousands of people purchased $5 raffle tickets in hopes of winning the one-of-a-kind work of art.
But today, viewers watched as Debbie Strong’s ticket was drawn from a big bin packed with entries.
Strong, of Gate City, Virginia, is the new owner of the quilt stitched by the First Frontier Quilters. More than 80 squares depict the vintage quilt patterns which have been painted on barns along the Quilt Trail. “This quilt took more than 1,200 hours to make,“ said Roy Settle, Appalachian R C & D Council. “We had people from as far away as Ireland and Australia register to win. I’m really glad it gets to stay close to home.“
Money raised by the fundraiser will go toward supporting the Quilt Trail Project.
