The Johnson City Police Department arrested a Bristol, Virginia woman, after they say she worked as a caregviver for a local home care business and stole thousands of dollars from an elderly client.

Police arrested Ashley N. Brooks, 23, after they say an investigation revealed that she wrote four separate checks out of a 73-year-old woman’s checking account. The victim lost $80,600 as a result.

As a caregiver, Brooks worked at the woman’s home, which police say gave her access to the victim’s checkbook.

Police charged Brooks with one count of theft over $60,000, two counts of theft over $1,000 and one count of theft under $500.

Brooks is being held at the Washington County, Tennessee Detention Center on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow morning.

This ol’ gal might as well smile.  Not only is she sorry enough to steal from an older person that genuinely needed her help, but now, while she’s in jail, she is going to get three squares a day, a bed…and the tax payers pick up the tab.  Someone should knock a couple of her teeth out, see if that takes the smile away.

I hope someone knocks that smile off her face. This is elder abuse and I hope she get many many yrs for what she has done.  She apparently don’t care or she wouldn’t be so happy.

You would think after stealing $80,600 she could afford her own attorney.  But I bet that money is LONG gone.

She wouldn’t be smiling like that if she ever stole from my mama. She would not have to worry one whit about the law or courts. I’ll be willing to bet that I’d go to jail for whooping her little butt, but I’d gladly do my time. My daughter got the whooping of her life for stealing from a store and she hasn’t forgotten it. I wonder if this one’s mother ever whooped her for anything if she’s stealing from the elderly like that.

I bet she won’t be smiling like that when she is with her court appointed lawyer, in front of the judge and or jury.

Why is that fool smiling? And these are the kinds of people that are hired to do jobs that honest people can’t seem to get.

Her mother must be so proud!

Shows how truly stupid she is to be smiling after being arrested.  This story makes me want to vomit.  I hope they deny her bond too.  Can’t wait to see her get hers.

What a disgusting individual. I wonder if she is still smiling? I hope they deny her bond.
