Johnson City, Tenn.—On the eleventh day, of the eleventh month, in the eleventh hour, local veterans joined the ROTC at East Tennessee State University this Veteran’S Day.
They discussed the role of the family who waits for soldiers as they’re protecting our country, the pride of the family, and they say America is doing a much better job honoring veterans when they return.
They laid a wreath at the base of the veterans memorial on ETSU’s campus, and enjoyed the fact that whole nation spends stops to spend time reflecting and remembering the long standing history of the united states military.
“Lot of folks have served our nation,“ said Lt. Cnl. Scott Jeffress, the U.S. Army Chair of the Department of Military Science at ETSU. “A lot of folks have given their lives for our nation. So what we try to teach our cadets is it’s important to honor those sacrifices, honor those memories, honor that service because they’re part of it, and when they go forward, hopefully someday, that’ll come back to them.“
This week is also ETSU’s homecoming celebration, and the Department of Military Science is welcoming the community to an open house this Friday afternoon from 4-6 p.m.
