An Investigation Is Underway After Someone Defaced A Political Sign In Abingdon, Virginia. The sign originally showed the Obama logo and read: “Vote Obama”. But the sign’s message was much different Friday morning.
The sign’s owner, Chris Johnson said he noticed the change as he was taking his 8 year-old stepson to school.
“He looked up and the terror in his eyes, it was just awful,“ Johnson said.
Investigators with the Washington County, Virginia Sheriff’s Department said someone spray painted “KKK Kill Bama” on the sign. Johnson said it was a family project to get his stepson interested in politics.
“If you don’t like Obama because he’s a black man and you come in the middle of the night and destroy my sign, then you are a coward,“ Johnson said.
The Washington County, Virginia Sheriff’s Department is working to track down the person or people who vandalized the Obama sign.
“There are other ways of expressing your likes or dislikes to the candidates rather than in this manner,” said Sheriff Fred Newman, Washington County, Virginia Sheriff’s Department.
Since this is considered a threat against a presidential candidate, the Secret Service is involved in the investigation.
“It’s just disgusting. I’m a big free speech advocate, but this is not free speech, this is something else, it doesn’t belong in our society,“ Johnson said.
A reward is being offered by the Washington County, Virginia Sheriff’s Department for any information that would lead to an arrest in the case. Johnson said he plans to put up another Obama political sign.

To the Concerned Citizen in Abingdon, Va.——Isn’t Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia a former Klansman? And isn’t he a Democrat? He has used the “N” word as recent as only a few years ago, yet he always gets a free pass. Maybe you should check the history of the civil rights movement. Without the Republican party, the progress that has been made would’ve been far less.

Money to public schools doesn’t fix the kind of fool to do something like this. This is fixed by parents being parents and teaching their children right from wrong.
The KKK? What?, is this 1950?
Anyway; That is exactly why we need to put money in our public schools. Otherwise we get a bunch of ignorant jerks running around.
We need more facts than theories in these comments. Plain and simple, this isn’t a matter of free speech, it’s the fact that personal property was plainly, and simply vandalized.
And considering my recent years in high school, I can almost guarantee that it was done by a group of teenagers who can’t make up their own minds about politics, and decide to go with their parents’ opinion instead. Unfortunately, many parents’ haven’t raised their children to be independent and accepting, so they tend to go back on whatever values they see to be “awesome” instead of what makes sense, and many will admit that it doesn’t make sense.
This is a sign that shows that we need to start changing things, and if we want to, we have to start changing things with our children, to raise a better generation than what we’ve got to work with now.
Hopefully this incident will only fuel the fire to stamp out the KKK aka: GOP party. It is bad enough that they passed legislation in 2004 to loosen the restrictions for predatory lending and that they have put our country into financial ruin and a depression looms over the nation. An economic solution can’t be reached because They don’t want to cap the salaries of the bankrupt companies ceo’s to prevent the windfall salaries because the Republicans ARE the CEOs that will be collecting the windfall salary. They also don’t want to allow homeowners with only 1 home to be able to refinance their mortgages- you need to own 5 or more. I hope the democrats will wise up and stop trying to negotiate with terrorists (republican party). The Republicans got us into this mess with their illegitimate war costing the US trillions. They can be the ones to get us out of this mess or they can start selling of their yachts and mansions to support their oil habits. The tax payers that support the republicans can just go on living in squaller like they always have. The really rich and the very poor (uneducated)are the only ones that support the GOP party. So if you GOP supporters want to let this country go down the drain with your racist, sexist, and numb-nutted attitudes then get ready cause it’s going to be a bumpy ride!
Come on people, whatever happened to our right of free speech. These people were victims of vandalism and there is no question in that. We should all respect the party involved rights, he can support whoever he wants, after all it is a free country to do so. We should not condemn people for what they believe, remember judge not least ye be judged. GO OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There will always be people like the ones with whom we must contend. Most get over these things, but at different points in their lives and for different reasons. Regrettably, some never do. If you really want to make people like this have a life that’s a living he##, ignore them. “Consider the source” is what a wise lady used to tell me. Nothing else you can do will so infuriate people like this more than ignoring them. Doing so proves, to them, that you’re “above” such taunting and prejudice.
And what almost always happens is that, with time, most, but certainly not all, of these people will come to respect you and one more little piece of their intolerance will fall away.
So just remember the old thing about wrestling with a pig: You both get muddy. They really aren’t worth your time or energy (unless, of course, the situation poses real threats of potential physical violence in which case what they really need is a good ol-fashioned a##-whoopin’....)
It was probably some young naive people with nothing better to do who did this, not to worry though. Good ole war mongering John and Sarah, will reinstate the draft to fight pesky wars in Iran and in Russia, and that will take the delinquents off the streets problem solved….lol!
Whom ever did this probably isn’t even registered to vote! The majority of Americans, rather they be liberal or conservative wouldn’t do this to a sign.
