Norton, Virginia Crime Spree Investigation

On Saturday morning August 08, 2009 at approximately 6:21 a.m. Norton Police Officers began responding to a series of calls that left behind a trail of destruction through the city.

Police along with personnel from Wise County Sheriffs Dept. and the Virginia State Police, had investigated:

(1) Breaking & entering and arson at the Wachovia Bank

(2) A breaking & entering, arson, and grand larceny at a residence in the 10th Street area of the city

(3) Damage to 10 vehicles in and around the area of the other two crimes

At approximately 7:58 am, police located a 15-year-old male juvenile suspect and an arrest and charges soon followed. 
Police say damage estimates from these crimes have exceeded $100,000.
