Update at 10:45 a.m. by News Channel 11’s Josh Smith:  A Kingsport court clerk says Sensabaugh made bond and has a hearing set for August 18, 2009 .

————————————

Here’s the first report:

NFL player and Kingsport native Gerald Sensabaugh faces new legal troubles today.
That’s according to Jacksonville.com and this morning’s Kingsport Times-News.

Those reports say Sensabaugh was arrested last Friday afternoon by Kingsport Police for driving on a suspended license.
According to reports, police spotted a Bentley in a Kingsport public housing project, ran the tags, and found his license had been suspended for multiple violations.

Jacksonville.com also reports police found guns in the car, but no weapons charges were filed because Sensabaugh did have permits for the guns in his vehicle.
The Web site says the Jaguars so far have had no comment on Sensabaugh, who is an unrestricted free agent with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
His contract expires on Feb. 27.

you made a comment about how much “different” things would have been handled had it been Jason to get arrested. I was simply stating that Jason doesn’t even have to be involved in anything and his name gets trashed. If he had been arrested (which I’m sure will NEVER happen) he would probably get just the same “attention” as Sensabaugh.

“unbelievable” in no way was i knocking Jason Witten.  He does alot for the community. I just said I believe it would of been handled a little differently if it were him.  And how would you bring his mom into it.  What in the world does that mean.

Actually, Jason Witten does not even have to do anything and his name is plastered all over the news, national news, and ESPN. It was something his mom did. Why drag his name through the mud for something someone else did? Did he tell his mom to get into trouble? I highly doubt that. I agree to leave the guy alone but, as I said earlier, Jason doesn’t even have to do anything and his name is everywhere.

If this had been Jason Witten they would have just asked for his autograph and a picture.  What a joke.  Leave the man alone and let him get his hair cut in peace.

Just seems reasonable that the car must be moving to be arrested for driving without a license.

Of course they also arrest people who have too much to drink and just turn on the car radio while they sit there or even pass out in the car.

Keys put in the ingnition, even if the motor is never started,, must mean your driving.
Right now I am driving with my truck 30 miles away because the keys are left in it.

I don’t see that it says she physically saw him driving the vehicle. Yes, she saw it circle a block but it does NOT say she physically saw Sensabaugh behind the wheel. He could have had a friend or a family member drive the vehicle. How can a cop walk into a place where someone is getting a hair cut and arrest them for driving a vehicle if they are not in it or physically seen driving it??? I guess she was nice enough to let him finish with the hair cut before she arrested him. What a joke. How many brownie points is she going to get for arresting an NFL player because his BENTLEY was seen in the projects? Who cares what kind of vehicle he drives. We all know if it were an old beat up junker, he wouldn’t have been messed with. Maybe next time he comes home, he should drive a pinto. I’m sure the cops wouldn’t run his tag if he were in the projects then would they?

For those who don’t or didn’t read the story.
This is what was in the Kingsport Times.
SEE

On Friday, Jacksonville Jaguars safety Gerald Sensabaugh Jr., a Kingsport native, was arrested for driving on a suspended license.

At about 1:41 p.m., Kingsport Police Officer Amanda Lunsford said she saw a black Bentley drive west on Center Street, turn onto Dale Street and circle the block.

Suspicious of a Bentley in the vicinity of Kingsport’s public housing, the officer said she ran the tag and found the car was registered to Sensabaugh. The Bentley pulled up outside Crew Cut Barber Shop, 806 E. Center St., and Sensabaugh went inside.

Lunsford then checked Sensabaugh’s driver license and discovered he’d been suspended for “multiple violations” and failure to satisfy a citation.

He has a history of speeding, she said, which could have resulted in a suspension due to the points accumulated on his license—although she added that his failure to satisfy a citation alone could have been what led to the suspension.

Lunsford then went into the shop and arrested Sensabaugh on a charge of driving on a suspended license.

I’m confused, alot of people are screaming this is a race issue. Was he in the car when the cops ran the tags?

evaningstar,

A BIG difference between a gun in a public school and a car?  How so? Would getting shot in school hurt less than than somewhere else?

I can’t believe you’re OK with this gun stuff being the paper. I thought you liked this kind of stuff kept quiet. You’re a bit inconsistent, but that’s OK.

Still wondering what your connection is to the school system.  Who are you protecting?  Hmmmm…...

Our new Attorney General said it best about race in the USA,
“If we’re going to ever make progress, we’re going to have to have the guts, we have to have the determination, to be honest with each other. It also means we have to be able to accept criticism where that is justified,“ Holder told reporters after the speech.
