I have two real concerns, One is they are going to start taking employees from Eastman They spend a lot of time training and educating them.
Two If people stop going out and eating all these unhealthy foods. All of these high dollar Medical places may close. It just ain’t no win win to in.
Johnson City is closing two each time one opens.Go Figure. HOME Cooking was where most men thought the wife was.
Wow ... a few years ago people complained that Kingsport didn’t have enough restaurants, and now some of you are griping because yet another new one is announced? And Ben, you need to switch to decaf. If you choose to stay home and eat instead of patronizing restaurants, good for you (literally) ... but why do you feel the need to degrade and insult those who might make different choices? And some of you just misunderstand the business model. In this case, demand drives supply, not the reverse. People don’t eat out more because there are more restaurants ... there are more restaurants because people eat out more.
Another restaurant in Kingsport.
What a novel idea.
Thanks for the chicken suggestions. Any other suggestions would be appreciated as well. I do cook, but since it’s just my husband and me and we’re retired now, I enjoy staying out of the kitchen as much as possible.
The best fried chicken, is at the Wal-Mart deli. It takes about 25 min. to fix it fresh. Just ask and they will fix it for you.
One of the reasons the Cheddars didn’t open here was because of the traffic nightmare it would have caused where they wanted to put it. That intersection is just not designed to accomodate something like that and I thought it was a very smart decision not to put it there. But, there are many others options of locations they could have selected but chose not to.
And just for my own benefit I check the local phone book and there are 117 resturaunts listed for Bristol TN/VA, (give or take a couple) now if you can’t find something to eat out of that many resturaunts you should defenitley just make a trip to the grocery store. And if you are looking for good Chicken, check out the Wing Doctor on Commonwealth Avenue.
Glad to hear about a new restaurant opening in the area. Can anyone tell me where Goose Creek shopping center is in Kingsport?
My husband and I would love to see more restaurants, quality ones, to open in the area. We were disappointed when the city of Bristol wouldn’t agree to clear some land in order to accomodate a Cheddar’s. That’s a well run restaurant with good food and fresh salads.
And, I agree with someone who said it would be great to get Popeye’s chicken here in the area. My husband and I have had relatively good luck with restaurants in the area, but the fast food and chicken places are not good in our opinion. Even though we try to stay away from fast food, we would love to find some good fried chicken once in a while. We’ve tried all the local’s suggestions, and don’t like what we’ve found so far. Even KFC doesn’t meet the standard we’ve experienced around the country. So far, Kroger deli has the best we’ve found so far. Any suggestions?
Oh gosh, don’t take what people say about fast food restaurants personally. You shouldn’t feel like you’re defending yourself for saying you like to eat somewhere. If people didn’t get sick of cookin’ at home all the time (I can say this from experience after recently becoming a wife and full-time step-mom) and need some convenience every once-in-while, restaurants wouldn’t exist. Cooking gives me a great feeling of accomplishment and a feeling of being needed around the house, in addition to the knowledge of it being healthier because of what I choose to cook with….but there’s something about my husband coming in after we’ve both had a hard day at work and hearing him say, “Why don’t we go splurge so you can have a break, and then work it off with some outside activity time.“
I am not trying to be snippy or judgemental in any way. I just think that there are way too many resturaunts already in the area. If people would stay home and cook more, the nation would be healthier and happier. I eat out too, in extreme moderation due to that fact it is so expensive for what you get and you just don’t know what is in your food. I worked in resturaunts a big part of my young life, trust me I could tell you things that would alter your thoughts about eating out. Just the fact that ben agreed with me makes me think I was being a bit harsh, not intentionally. Sorry if I offended anyone. My whole family packs their lunch for work and school and I think everyone should. We are the fattest nation on the globe…and we are getting diabetes and heart disease at an extreme rate and the only way to control it is to eat better and show our children how to eat better. An occassional trip to the old Mickey D’s is a blast but it shouldn’t be a staple in anyones diet. I think in this area needing another resturaunt rates right up there with needing another bank or drug store. Then again, as unhealthy as we are as a people I guess we can’t have too many corners with Walgreens on one side of the road and CVS on the other.
Ben,
For one thing, just because people eat out doesn’t make them “fatsos” (which by the way is VERY offensive and inappropriate), and wishing a heart attack on them is just plain childish. Grow up.
